The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) organize a ‘High Performance Camp’ for emerging players at National Cricket Academy (NCA), Lahore.

As many as 17 players are taking part in the camp which includes Pakistan U-19 team boys who recently toured Sri Lanka and South Africa.

A six-week-long camp has been divided into two phases as the players will discuss their upcoming assignments followed by their performance in the last concluded series.

Pakistan U-19 team defeated Sri Lanka 3-2 and outclassed South Africa 7-0 at their backyard.

The NCA coaches will work with players to prepare them for the upcoming U-19 Asia Cup and ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup which is scheduled in 2020 in South Africa.

The senior General Manager of NCA Ali Zia is confident to adopt high fitness level for the players and make them capable of competing strongly at the international level.

“We have a talented lot who is keen to work hard to get better. They are good learners and try to gain as much as they can,” he said in a video released by the PCB.

Zia revealed the plan for players as the coaches will be looking to work on the weaknesses of players in all three departments.

“Our focus is to make them strong in all three departments. The coaches will present their report on a regular basis to provide fluency in the development of players,” he said.

The GM highlighted that there are vacant places in the team’s squad for the upcoming World Cup next year. “A fast bowler and a good spinner is the need of the hour. We are looking forward to polishing some young talent to fill in the places,” he added.
