Pakistan to host two back-to-back international softball events

Pakistan will host the International Olympic Committee (IOC)’s Olympic Solidarity
Technical Course and World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC)’s Softball Asia
Coaching Clinic this year, the Ambassador to Softball Federation of Pakistan (SFP) Feryal Ali Gauhar announced on Saturday.

“It will be an honor for Pakistan to host two international events in a row this year which will pave the way to promote softball in the country,” Feryal told the reporters and also announced to conduct Inter-School Championship and Inter-City Softball League in Karachi.

Faryal said that being an ambassador to SFP her top priority is to promote the game for women in the country. “We are having plans to encourage women towards this sport and try to push them to represent Pakistan at international level,” she said.

On the other hand, the chief guests on the occasion Mr. Nadeem Omar (CEO Omar Associates) and Farhan Essa (CEO Essa Laboratories) praised the SFP for working on the path of success for softball in the country.

“We will establish the first women softball team and I hope players from our team will get a chance to represent Pakistan at International level,” said Nadeem who is ready to invest more in other sports after cricket.

It is pertinent to mention here that the IOC Solidarity Technical Course will be held in November in Lahore while World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC)’s Softball Asia
Coaching Clinic will take place from 20 to 24 at the same venue.

The courses will be attended by the coaches of provincial associations, Islamabad and departmental teams. Meanwhile, players who will perform well in national championships will also be given a chance to attend the two events.
