Karachi: Veteran New Zealand pacer Tim Southee thinks that Pakistan is a quality opponent and will be a tough challenge in the upcoming Tests compared to the West Indies.

Blackcaps clean sweep Windies in the two-match Test series and now they are gearing up to take on Pakistan in Mount Maunganui and Christchurch.

“I think the Pakistan side is a quality side. They have an exciting bowling attack, they offer different challenges to what the West Indies did,” Southee was quoted by NZ Herald.

“They’re obviously missing a couple of experienced guys through thumb injuries in that first test, but I’m sure it presents an opportunity for another couple of guys to step up,” he added.

It must be noted that recently New Zealand defeated Green Shirts in the three-match series by 2-1. Action now shifts to red-ball cricket as the first Test is scheduled to start on December 26.
