Karachi Kings president Wasim Akram revealed that they had the option of picking overseas players for the remaining matches of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six, however, they preferred emerging Pakistani talent.

While talking in an interview with Cricket Pakistan, former Pakistan great said that they tried to pick similar replacements after most of the players were unavailable for the competition in June.

“It would be a new start for us despite being on top of the points table. We also don’t have players who were picked earlier but thankfully we had good replacements,” Wasim said.

“We got Martin Guptill, Najeeb Zadran, Thisara Perara in the replacement draft. Kings have a very promising young talent Qasim Akram. I’ve seen him, he is a gun fielder,” he added.

“We had the option of filling our squad with two overseas but I don’t want them to sit at the bench. It’s better I provide chances to young Pakistani talent,” he maintained.

It must be noted that Karachi Kings are at the top of the table with six points (three win, two losses).
