KARACHI: New Zealand’s opening batsman Martin Guptill highly praised Pakistan captain Babar Azam and expressed excitement to play alongside him in the remaining Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 6.

Guptill will be making his PSL debut while representing defending champions Karachi Kings. In a statement released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Guptill showed high hopes to enjoy batting with Babar and Sharjeel Khan.

“I am really looking forward to batting with Babar Azam, who is a world-class batter with impressive T20 numbers,” he said. “My aim would be to provide a great start for the side along with him and Sharjeel,” he added.

The right-handed batter highly rated Kings’ squad and said they will try to create history by becoming the first side in PSL to defend title. “This will be my first appearance in PSL. I am really looking forward to taking the field for the defending champions Karachi Kings,” he shared.

“We have a solid squad with the likes of Mohammad Amir spearheading our attack, I really feel we can create history by becoming the first team to successfully defend PSL title,” he concluded.
